Night curfew from 8 pm to 7 am imposed in Maharashtra starting tonight; Violators will have to pay 1,000 rupees


Masks and social distancing have been made mandatory, spitting and consuming substances such as paan, gutkha have been prohibited.

Anti-maskers will be fined 500 rupees, while the fine for spitting in public is 1000 rupees.

Movie theaters, shopping malls, auditoriums and restaurants will also close at 8 pm. Home delivery of food will be allowed.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has said that the BMC will seal all residential partnerships that report more than five cases. “We are seeing a higher rate of positivity in skyscrapers than in slums and chawls,” he said.

Hotels and pubs will be closed during the night curfew. Only essential services will be allowed. The nightly curfew in Mumbai may start as early as 10 pm or 11 pm on March 28, the ANI said.

The Kejriwal government in Delhi has decided to keep 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm as a “no registration” window for those eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. “People faced difficulties registering for vaccination, many people are not tech savvy. The city’s vaccination centers operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday. Last week, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that the number of vaccination centers will double to 1,000 from about 500 today, spanning both government and private facilities.

He had announced that the number of daily inoculations in Delhi would increase from 30,000 to 40,000 at 1.25 lakh. Delhi reported 1,515 coronavirus cases on Thursday, the highest in more than three months, while five more people succumbed to the disease.

Amid a surge in coronavirus cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority ordered on Tuesday that there will be no public celebrations in the national capital during upcoming festivals such as Holi and Navratri. Chief Secretary Vijay Dev ordered authorities to ensure strict compliance with the order.
