Nick of time: Mumbai police save man from falling under train

A Mumbai police officer saved a man at the city’s Dahisar train station from falling under a local train on Friday. The man was seen climbing onto the train track to pick up his shoe that had fallen off while trying to cross the platform on the track.

The man continued to stand on the train track to wear his shoe even when a local train was approaching.

The bailiff ran to the platform and asked the man to get off the runway and motioned for him to hurry. The man put on his shoe and tried to get on the platform even when the local train was only a few feet away. With the train about to collide with the man, the bailiff pulled the man and dragged him to the top of the platform and saved his life.

The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras installed at Dahisar train station.

According to the guidelines of the Indian Railways, crossing the railroad tracks is a punishable offense that results in a fine. The act is classified as a crime under section 147 of the Indian Railways Act with a prison term of up to six months or a fine of up to Rs 1,000.
