NIA responds after 20 days

WHAT DID THE SPECIAL PUBLIC ATTORNEY SAY?

Special Counsel Prakash Shelly reportedly told LiveLaw:

WHAT IS PARKINSONS DISEASE?

According to the US National Institutes of Health, Parkinson’s disease is a brain disorder that causes tremors, stiffness, and difficulty walking, maintaining balance, and coordination. The symptoms of Parkinson’s disease are usually gradual onset and worsen over time. As the disease progresses, people may even have difficulty walking and speaking.

Swamy has been housed in the Taloja Central Jail in Maharashtra.

Aside from his Parkinson’s disease, Father Stan Swamy also nearly lost his hearing in both ears and has landed in jail several times. He also had two operations for his hernia and still has pain in his lower abdomen, LiveLaw reported.

“Despite all the odds, humanity is bubbling up in Taloja prison,” he had written to friends earlier this month from a small jail cell.

A special NIA court had last month denied Swamy’s request for bail, which was submitted on medical grounds.

The NIA had objected to bail at the time, stating that the Swamy had been booked under the strict UAPA (Illicit Activities Prevention Act) and therefore was not allowed bail.

The Bhima-Koregaon case concerns the violence that broke out in the vicinity of a war memorial in the village of that name on January 1, 2018. This was, according to the NIA, after provocative speeches were made during the Elgar Parishad conclave held the day before at Shaniwarwada in Pune.
