THEN: Seven children and three others were killed and 11, including a four-year-old boy, were rescued after a three-story building collapsed in the Maharashtra town of Bhiwandi on Monday, police said.
Some 10 people are feared still trapped after the 43-year-old Jhilani building collapsed at 3.40 am, police said, adding that search operations are underway.

The building had 40 stories and about 150 people lived in it, an official said.

A civic official said the building, located in Narpoli’s Patel complex near Dhamankar Naka, collapsed as residents slept.

Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rushed to the scene. NDRF DG SN Pradhan said teams were using a canine squad to search for people trapped in the rubble.

A portion of the building collapsed and many occupants were trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building, an official from the Thane Municipal Corporation said.

The building was not on the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation’s list of dilapidated structures, he said.
A witness said local residents rushed to the scene immediately after the collapse and helped lift some people out of the rubble.
The power supply to the town was cut as a precaution, the official said, adding that the injured have been admitted to local hospitals.
