Four people arrested by UP police for singing Hanuman Chalisa on an Eidgah in Mathura

Mathura: Four young men from the Hindu community chanted Hanuman Chalisa and raised Jai Shri Ram slogans on an Eidgah on the Govardhan-Barsana road in Uttar Pradesh. The four people have been identified as Saurabh Nambardar, Raghav Mittal, Rauki and Kanha. The Uttar Pradesh police arrested them on charges of attempting to disturb the peace in the area and registered an FIR under section 151 of the CrPC.

Defending their decision to offer namaz on Eidgah, the four young men said they were trying to promote community harmony by doing the opposite of what happened at the Nand Baba Temple.

Mathura SSP Gaurav Grover said that no one is above the law and that if anyone tries to create a disturbance they will be punished according to the law. He assured that the administration is focused on keeping the peace in the temple city.

District Magistrate SR Mishra also secured strict action against anyone trying to break the social fabric in the area.

Speaking to the media, one of the defendants said that after young Muslims offered namaz at the Nand Baba temple, they also decided to promote community harmony by singing Hanuman Chalisa and raising Jai Shree Ram on Eidgah. .

Earlier, two Muslim youths had offered namaz at the Nand Baba temple on October 29, after which the police arrested a person identified as Faizal Khan of Delhi. Police searched three others after a video clip showing members of the group offering namaz on the premises of a temple.

The three defendants have been identified as Chand Mohammad, Alok Ratan and Neelesh Gupta.

According to the FIR, which has been registered under Sections 153-A, 295 and 505 of the IPC, the defendants were associated with the Delhi-based organization Khudai Khidmatgar and had visited the temple city on October 29.

One of the Nand Baba temple priests said the accused told him that they were in a ‘parikrama’ of the Brij Chaurasi kos. However, without permission, Faizal and Chand Mohammad offered namaz without asking the temple authorities for permission.
