NEW DELHI: The government has extended the suspension of international flights until December 31, 2020. However, the Vande Bharat Mission and scheduled flights under the travel bubbles that India is creating with various countries such as the US, UK, Germany and France will continue and the eligible people according to government regulations can fly to and from India on them.
“This restriction will not apply to all international cargo and flights specifically approved by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA). However, the competent authority may allow regular international flights on selected routes depending on the case. DGCA circular issued Thursday, it said.

Scheduled international flights were suspended on March 23 due to the pandemic. Since then, India has been operating Vande Bharat Mission flights to many locations and has formed air bubbles with more than 20 countries.
International air travel is conducted in both VBM and air bubble arrangements for the permitted categories of travelers. International cargo-only flights are allowed and the DGCA approves flights on a case-by-case basis.
