New Zealand vs WI 3rd T20: New Zealand won the three-game T20I series against the West Indies 2-0 after the third and final T20I at the Bay Oval was canceled due to persistent rain on Monday.
Teams left the field due to rain after just 2.2 overs on Monday night, with the West Indies on 1/25, and were never able to return, and the game was called off at 9.20pm local time.
Earlier, Mitchell Santner, who was leading the Black Caps for the first time, won the draw and opted to bowl. Santner chose to pitch himself first, but the host’s first breakthrough came in the second when Lockie Ferguson eliminated Brandon King with his individual score of 11.
Andre Fletcher (4 *) and Kyle Mayers (5 *) were in the crease when the rain began to rain and the referees decided to leave the field.
New Zealand had previously won the first T20I on November 29 by five wickets (via the DLS method) and then won the second match by 72 runs on Sunday night.
The two teams will now compete in a two-game test series starting Thursday at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Short Scores: West Indies 25/1 at 2.2 overs (Brandon King 11; Lockie Ferguson 1/13)
