NZ vs PAK 1st T20 Live Score UPDATES: New Zealand faces a resurgent Pakistan – the first T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan takes place at Eden Park on Friday. The Kiwis enter this series after a stunning victory over the world champions of the West Indies. Pakistan will start its campaign with the new captain Shadab Khan.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has had a tough time in New Zealand so far, and has yet to play a single match against the hosts. The biggest concern would be the absence of Babar Azam, who has been dropped from the T20I series. But this opens an opportunity for Haider Ali and Mohammad Rizwan, who could be vital against the New Zealand bowling attack.

Despite the Kiwis putting Kane Williamson and Trent Boult to rest, the likes of Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner were unstoppable.

Now they continue their preparations for the next T20 World Cup. Some new additions have been made to the Kiwi roster again with Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy probably in the bowling attack. New Zealand also have a strong hitting unit that will give them confidence before this game.

While both teams have a good mix of youth and experience in their ranks, New Zealand will start as favorites. However, you never know with Pakistanis, given their ability to surprise in this format. Overall, an entertaining game of cricket turns heads at Eden Park, and both teams are looking to strike the first blow in this series.

Pakistan hit by wave of injuries

Pakistan has been hit by a wave of serious injuries. First, Fakhar Zaman was unable to board the flight to New Zealand as he showed COVID-19 symptoms despite testing negative. Imam-ul-Haq, who was expected to take his place at the top of the order, fractured his left thumb.

Just a few days before the start of this series, it was a huge shock for Pakistan when skipper Babar Azam was dropped from the T20I series after injuring his right thumb. The injury occurred during a pitching session and X-rays confirmed a fracture that ruled Azam out of the T20I series and also put him in doubt for testing.

If that weren’t enough, the vice-captain and all-rounder of leg roll bowling, Shadab Khan, also has a groin problem. After initially participating in net sessions only as a hitter, Shadab has started bowling and is likely to lead the team.

Speaking of bowling attacks, the Pakistani rhythm trio consisting of Wahab Riaz, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf would be key to their shooting luck that should suit them throughout the series.

Big names are missing in Kiwi XI

With the scheduled end of their second test match against the West Indies just three days before the start of this T20I series, New Zealand has rested Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson and Daryl Mitchell from the first T20I. Aside from Williamson, the missing players will join the squad for the final two Q20I.

These players aside, New Zealand will miss the services of Lockie Ferguson, who was on a roll in T20I against the West Indies, while also picking up a 5-wicket, after suffering a stress fracture. Hamish Bennett is also not on the squad due to injury.
