– The third generation Hyundai i20 has started to reach dealerships.
– The model could be offered with three engine options.
Hyundai India released the first sketches of the new generation i20, the units of which have already begun to reach dealerships. Now we can confirm that the third generation i20 will be launched in India in the first week of November.
Highlights of the new India-spec Hyundai i20 include the characteristic cascading grille, projector headlights, triangular shaped fog lamp bezels, new diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED taillights in Z-shape, a chrome strip that runs through the trunk lid, the recess for the license plate mounted on the rear bumper, rear washer and wiper and a shark fin antenna.
Inside, the next-generation Hyundai i20 comes equipped with a fully digital instrument console, steering-mounted controls, large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, four-spoke steering wheel, AC vents in the second row, power moonroof and air purifier.
The 2020 Hyundai i20 is expected to be offered with three powertrain options, including a 1.2-liter NA gasoline engine, a 1.5-liter diesel engine, and a 1.0-liter turbo gasoline engine. The former will likely be offered with a five-speed manual drive, while the latter two could be paired with a six-speed manual drive. A DCT unit coupled to the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine cannot be ruled out either. Once launched, the new Hyundai i20 will compete with Maruti’s Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz and Tata Altroz.
