Netflix Announces Its First Movie in Tamil; Gautham Menon, Vetri Maaran, Vignesh Shivan, Sudha Kongara to lead

Netflix has announced its first movie in Tamil, Paava Kadhaigal.

Directed by Gautham Menon, Sudha Kongara, Vetri Maaran and Vignesh Shivan, Paava Kadhaigal explores how love, pride, and honor influence complex relationships through four intricate stories.

The anthology is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and Ashi Dua Sara’s Flying Unicorn Entertainment.

The anthology features an ensemble cast, which includes Anjali, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Hari, Kalidas Jayaram, Kalki Koechlin, Padam Kumar, Prakash Raj, Sai Pallavi, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, and Simran, among others.

In a statement, Gautham Menon said Paava Kadhaigal It is his first collaboration with Kongara, Maaran and Shah. “Exploring a complex and difficult subject in an authentic and honest way alongside incredibly talented directors is a great opportunity. The anthology reflects how pride, honor and social position continue to influence individual decisions around us,” he said.

Kongara told every story in Paava Kadhaigal explores “unconventional, unrestricted and unconditional love.”

Vetri Maaran, on the other hand, said that he enjoyed working with Netflix as he could “focus on telling the story” he wanted. The freedom of filmmaking that I experienced with Paava Kadhaigal it was satisfactory, “he added.

Vignesh Shivan said the film explores “the dark, often agonizing side of human relationships, presenting thoughts that many have but fear to vocalize.”
