The president praised NEP, saying, “One of the most important features of the National Education Policy is its focus on equity and inclusion. Against this background, I am pleased to note that according to the 2018-19 India Higher Education Survey, the GER for women is slightly higher than for men. ”

Ensuring that the New Education Policy will be beneficial to the educational system of India, he said: “I am confident that the National Education Policy will be implemented in the letter and spirit.” It will be a milestone in the history of our country. It will not only strengthen the future of our youth, but it will also put our country on the path of becoming ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat.’ ”

Speaking about the concern for gender justice in education, the President stressed that the higher education ecosystem must reflect the concern for gender justice in terms of enrollment and contribution, especially in technical institutions.

ICT-based educational facilities will be expanded to meet the challenges of providing quality education for all, said President Kovind.

In a series of tweets, he said: “India was a globally respected educational center in ancient times. Takshashila and Nalanda Universities had iconic status. But today, India’s higher education institutions do not rank high in world rankings. ” He added: “ The NEP 2020 document mentions almost 20 great scientists, holy scholars and thinkers from ancient India. I ask everyone to develop study material on themselves and other great ancient scholars. His work should be rewritten in modern terminology. ”

He said NEP 2020 aims to increase the Gross Enrollment Rate or GER in higher education to 50 percent by 2035.
