BhubaneswarSoyeb Aftab, who topped NEET on Friday with a perfect score of 720, credited her parents for the success, saying she never expected to get first place on the medical entrance exam even though she was optimistic.
Aftab, the son of housewife Sultan Razia and Sheikh Mohammad Abbas, a small business owner, said it was his mother who motivated him to aspire to be a doctor.
“I would like to give all the credit to my mother, who motivated me to aspire to be a doctor and was by my side the whole time,” he told PTI.

“My mother and my younger sister accompanied me to Kota and made all the arrangements for the studies there,” he said.

Aftab said it was confident of getting a place in the top 50 after checking the answer key for all the questions, but never expected to pass the exam.
