It is final. National test of eligibility cum income, NEET 2020 would not be postponed. The Supreme Court today dismissed the petition for review presented by the Chief Ministers of 6 states, making the dates final. With the layoff, NEET 2020 will almost certainly take place, as scheduled, on September 13, 2020, which is next Sunday.
The petition for review was heard in court by a bench of three judges led by Judge Ashok Bhushan. Order details will only be available at the end of the night. The higher court upheld his August 17 petition and dismissed the petition for review seeking postponement of the national entrance exams. The Supreme Court had ruled at the last hearing that exams should be conducted in the broader academic interest of students. The request for review, in turn, had objected that not all points of the case had been duly taken into account. As such, the petitioners asked the court to intervene and postpone the examinations.
After the August 17 order, many students and activists had approached the NTA and the Central Government with new requests to postpone the NEET. However, the National Testing Agency had stated that it was no longer possible to delay the examination any longer. This problem soon turned into a political confrontation with the opposition parties denouncing the “apathy” of the Central Government.
The head of the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, then began a meeting with the leaders of the opposition parties. The top ministers of 6 opposing states subsequently agreed to file a petition for review to challenge the order. Meanwhile, the JEE Main 2020 exam was successfully conducted across the country.
The National Testing Agency, NTA has released the NEET 2020 admission card. NTA had reported that more than 10 lakh of candidates had downloaded the admission card within 24 hours of the publication of the admission card. Admission cards are still available online and can be downloaded from the official website ntaneet.nic.in.

NEET or National Eligibility cum Inrance Test is the competitive undergraduate level exam to enter medical and dental courses in the country. Admissions to private, government, and assisted medical and dental colleges for MBBS and BDS courses are made on the basis of the NEET score. Up to 15.67 lakh of candidates have registered to sit for the exam this year. The exam would be done in pencil and paper mode on Sunday, September 13.
