A day after the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the answer keys for the recently conducted National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET UG) exam, several students challenged two questions in the document. NTA will accept challenges between September 27-29 this year and each challenge will cost students 1,000 rupees.
“Candidates must pay a processing fee of Rs 1,000 for each question questioned. The processing fee will be refunded if the dispute is correct. No challenge fee will be accepted without receipt of the processing fee, ”said a statement released by NTA on Sunday.

Unlike every year, the body conducting the exam only published the answer keys on Sundays, and not the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets, which have not gone well with students.
“Every year, students can compare their OMR sheets with the answer keys, but this year that is not possible. In some cases, the students who had marked their answers on the question sheet were not allowed to leave the test center with the question sheet, so they are not sure of their answers, and that is unfair, ”said Sudha Shenoy, mother of a medical student.
This year, the entrance exams to all undergraduate medical and dental seats were delayed by almost four months due to the current Covid-19 situation. The exam originally scheduled for May was finally held on September 13.
“It is very rare that NTA accepts challenges from students, but there is a lot of confusion about two specific questions and we hope that the review body will consider the situation and accept our challenges,” said Mayuri Pathak, one of the candidates. If a challenge is accepted, NTA will have to award a four point bonus per question to all students who took the exam this year.
