Andhra Pradesh, on the other hand, saw its rating rates drop from nearly 71% last year to less than 59% this year.
There were four women in the top ten of the entire Indian ranking list, but only 13 in the top 50. Although male candidates continued to dominate the top spots, almost 4.3 lakhs of women qualified for counseling, compared to 3.4 lakh for men.
This is the first time that admissions to MBBS courses at elite institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER will also be done through NEET, following an amendment in the National Medical Commission Act last year.
Due to COVID-19, the exam that was originally supposed to take place in May has been postponed to September. Since students who tested positive for COVID or who lived in containment zones were not allowed to take the test at that time, they were given another chance in October. Masks, disinfectants and social distancing were mandatory elements of the exam experience for aspiring physicians this year.
