The National Testing Agency, NTA, conducted the National Income and Eligibility Exam, NEET 2020 on Sunday, September 13. About 85 to 90 percent of students took the exam, which was held nationwide in more than 3,000 test centers, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank revealed. .
The Minister of Education in his tweet thanked the chief ministers of the state and the NTA for the proper arrangements that were made for conducting the exam to facilitate student participation.
According to the data, around 15.97 lakh students signed up for the exam, of which 15 lakh students appeared for the NEET 2020 exam. The NEET was held on Sunday across the country amid strict controls and protocols in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Odisha, it is estimated that 88 percent of all candidates showed up for the entrance medical exam. Polly Patnaik, NOdal State NEET officer, while speaking to PTI, said: “An estimated 88 percent of candidates took the NEET exam today.” A total of 37,459 candidates have registered for the exam.
Students were allowed into the exam centers after a thermal check and masks, disinfectants. Testing centers were increased to maintain social distancing and other COVID measures.
The students who took the exam were quite satisfied with the SOPs that were followed in the test center from entrance to the test room. But equally, the rules of social distancing were not followed at all outside the test center where the parents and guardians of the applicants did not maintain any protocol of social distancing.
The test was offered in 11 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Hate, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu this year. According to the initial report, more than 77 percent of applicants took the test in English, about 12 percent in Hindi, and 11 percent in other languages.
