Near normal attendance for Test 1, small drop for Test 2

NEW DELHI: To put an end to speculation about the low attendance for the joint entrance exam (network), the National Testing Agency stated that the attendance for test 2 for admission to BArch / B Planning was 54.7% and that for test 1 for BTech / BE admissions there was 81.6%. Computer testing began on September 1.

Test 2 is to evaluate applicants to the BArch / B Planning courses that were conducted in two shifts on the first day. Test 1, to evaluate applicants for BTech / BE courses, is being carried out for the following days until September 6, each day with two shifts.

A total of 1,12,247 candidates signed up for Test 2, of which 61,366 eventually took the test, which is significantly lower than the usual 75% to 80%.

However, the percentage of attendance in Test 1 for BTech / BE admissions has been close to previous tests. Of the 3,46,372 candidates registered for the Wednesday and Thursday tests, 2,82,592 applicants took the tests in four shifts. While overall recorded attendance was 81.6% for this document, according to NTA officials, tests typically record between 85% and 90% attendance. A total of 8.6 billion candidates have registered for Test 1.

According to a senior NTA official, “While most states had more than 65% attendance for Test 2, there were a few states where attendance was low. These include states where state entrance exams have ended and counseling and seating is underway. ”

The drop in attendance has been attributed to multiple reasons by NTA officials, including late testing (exams have been postponed twice) and due to the completion of many of the state entrance exams to engineering courses, some of which have even started. seat assignment.

“There are several reasons for the marginal drop in attendance. The delay in the JEE (main) is one of the reasons, as many states have completed their entrance exams and some are scheduled for September. In fact, counseling and the allocation of places has also started. Many students have also joined private engineering colleges. So instead of around 85% to 90% attendance for Test 1, so far the attendance has been just over 81%, ”said Vineet Joshi, CEO of NTA.

West Bengal declared the results of his admission on 7 August and counseling is under way. Maharashtra also conducted its exams between July 4-14, July 28-31, and August 3-5. Kerala took its engineering entrance test on July 16, while Gujarat on August 24 (counseling in progress). Karnataka conducted her exams on July 30 and 31 and declared the results on August 21.
