The head of the anti-drug agency, Rakesh Asthana, arrived in Mumbai on Sunday to take stock of the investigation.
According to NCB sources, Asthana, who flew from Delhi to Mumbai that same day, met with various officers and was briefed on the two drug cases the agency had recorded last month after the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) wrote to him after the alleged conversations several Bollywood celebrities allegedly discussing drugs.
He was also informed of the latest developments in the case by the SIT of the OCN.
Meanwhile, considering the media frenzy around Bollywood stars being questioned in the case, Mumbai police issued a warning on Saturday that the media should not engage in reckless chases of actors’ vehicles.
There were reports that Padukone’s husband and actor, Ranveer Singh, had asked the NCB if he could also remain present during his questioning. However, the OCN had clarified on Friday that it had not received any such request.
The OCN also questioned actresses Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan in their office separately regarding the alleged drug nexus.
The federal agency had previously arrested actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and some suspected drug traffickers.
Rajput (34) was found hanging in his apartment in the suburbs of Bandra on June 14.
