As NCB continues its investigation into the Bollywood drug nexus, one of the top officials contracted COVID-19. Read on for more details.
The NCB has been investigating the drug angle in relation to the Sushant Singh Rajput case for the past few weeks. The agency arrested the late actor’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, the house manager, Samuel Miranda, and Dipesh Sawant staff on drug acquisition charges. Meanwhile, they also summoned and questioned a few more Bollywood celebrities regarding the drug nexus. Among them is Deepika Padukone, who was summoned by NCB for the investigation on September 26.
According to the latest reports, NCB Deputy Director KPS Malhotra, who was present during Deepika’s interrogation, unfortunately contracted COVID-19. For the uninformed, he is currently leading the agency team that is investigating the Bollywood drug nexus. Previously, another NCB official had tested positive for the new coronavirus amid the investigation. In addition to Deepika, her manager Karishma Prakash, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh also appeared before the agency to be part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, NCB officials also arrested Kshitij Prasad, who was previously associated with Dharmatic Entertainment, a sister organization to Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. He is reportedly in judicial custody. Speaking of the actresses who were summoned by the agency, they all denied using drugs during their interrogation. However, NCB has reportedly not given a clean account to any of them. The agency also arrested some drug dealers in recent weeks. And the latest development in the Sushant Singh Rajput case includes the AIIMS team submitting their conclusive report to CBI.
