NCB conducts drug raids across India, says ‘Mumbai top drug destination’

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted raids in recent weeks against drug suppliers in various locations in India. During the drug bust across India, Mumbai emerged as a major destination for drugs, the agency said on Thursday.

The anti-drug agency carried out massive operations against drug traffickers at potential supplier hideouts across India after identifying their modus operandi and whereabouts.

The OCN, in synchronized operations in Mumbai and its connections with the rest of India, has made several seizures. The agency also made several arrests during raids across the country.

During the raids, the OCN seized millions of rupees of contraband. In Mumbai alone, the anti-drug agency seized 1 kg of cocaine, more than 29 kg of MDA, 2 kg of PCP (phencyclidine), 70 g of mephedrone. The NCB also seized 70 grams of mephedrone from Andheri West. Vasai and Palghar, near Mumbai, emerged as major hot spots for drug trafficking.

A Nigerian citizen was also arrested by the Narcotics Control Office in the drug distribution case. Cocaine worth 4 g was recovered from him, from a South American country. The NCB suspects that the Nigerian national was delivering the drugs in the Pali Hill, Bandra, Andheri, Juhu and Khar areas of Mumbai.

In a separate drug bust, the anti-drug agency seized 56 kg of hashish from Jammu, the main recipient of which was arrested in Mumbai.
