NCB Arrests Nadiadwala’s Wife for ‘Possession’ of Marijuana | Hindi Movie News


MUMBAI: The central drug control agency continued its crackdown on Bollywood with the arrest of the wife of a prominent film producer on Sunday for allegedly possessing 10 grams of ganja or marijuana. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s wife, Shabina Saeed, was taken to the office of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for questioning after an early morning search of her Versova residence allegedly drove upon discovery of 10 grams of the contraband, authorities said. Firoz Nadiadwala, who has produced such box office hits as ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, ‘Awaara Paagal Deewana’ and ‘Welcome’, was not present at home during the action. He has been summoned to appear Monday.

Saeed’s name was allegedly mentioned by a drug dealer named Wahid Kadir Shaikh aka Sultan, who was arrested on Friday. The team recovered 702 grams of marijuana or ganja, 74.1 grams of charas (cannabis) and 3.1 grams of mephedrone along with Rs 1.7 lakh in cash from it. Sultan was allegedly a supplier to several high-profile clients.

“During the interrogations, Sultan revealed many names, including Nadiadwala’s wife, Shabina. Sultan has said that he has been regularly giving Shabina medicine for the past seven to eight months. Based on the information, we conducted a search at Nadiadwala’s home and found 10 grams of marijuana. She was notified and after recording her statement, they put her under arrest, ”said an official. Shabina allegedly told officials that she acquired the drugs for her personal use.

In total, NCB has made six arrests. In other operations, the Office arrested four other people from Andheri, Jogeshwari and Navi Mumbai. Authorities said they recovered 6 kg of a green leafy substance, allegedly ganja, from a man named SH Khan. They also arrested Ismail Shaikh and Shamshuddin Shaikh, from whom they recovered 25 grams of charas and cash of Rs 1.9 lakh, and a person identified as Hafiz Choudhary near Mumbai International Airport who was involved in previous drug trafficking cases.

The street vendor who supplied Saeed with marijuana was also supplying it to other high-profile customers. He had numerous vehicles, including two-wheelers, at his disposal and employed many young men in the area who worked and delivered for him in the Andheri area. The NCB has already questioned actors Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh in connection with drug abuse in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. A manager of Dharma Productions, Kshitij Prasad, and a South African Agisialos Demetriades were also arrested with drugs.
