NCAP Global Crash Test: Seltos gets 3 stars on first appearance, S-Presso settles for zero

NEW DELHI: Global NCAP revealed crash test results for three more Indian cars on Wednesday. As part of the Safer Cars for India campaign, the last cars to be tested were Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Kia Seltos.
Maruti Suzuki has underperformed in the latest Global NCAP crash test round as the S-Presso earns a zero star rating. The urban SUV offers an airbag for the driver and the front passenger remains exposed during impacts. The pacifier (3 year old child seat) was relatively safer in the back. The S-Presso managed to get a 2-star crash rating for a boy sitting in the rear.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios managed to get a 2-star crash rating, which means that the risk of side crash injuries is higher. The hatchback offers two airbags for the driver and the front passenger. The pacifier in the back is also safe in the back with a 2-star rating.

The last car to be tested was the Kia Seltos and the SUV earned a 3-star rating, which again means there is a good risk of injury from side collisions. The SUV comes with two airbags in the front for the driver and the passenger. For the children sitting in the back, Seltos managed to get a 2-star rating.

In the Safer Cars for India campaign, the last three additions have probably been the worst performances as Indian cars with a 3-4 star rating was common in the previous 2 rounds.
