Navratri is a nine-day Hindu festival during which devotees worship the different avatars of the goddess Durga. It is a celebration of good over evil, specifically when Goddess Durga defeated the demon king Mahishasura. During the nine days, the different avatars of Goddess Durga that are worshiped are Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri. The eighth day, Ashtami, and the ninth day, Navami, have a special meaning, since on these days the devotees invite the young women to Devi Prasad and Kanya Pujan. Nine girls dressed as the nine avatars of the goddess Durga are worshiped as they are believed to be the manifestation of the natural force of creation.

Navami, which is the last and ninth day of Navaratri and on this day people immerse the idol of the goddess Durga in a body of water. While Maha Navami Tithi will begin on October 24 at 6 a.m. and end at 7:41 a.m. on October 25 this year, some priests believe that Ashtami and Maha Navmi can be celebrated on the same day.
Puja Vidhi
On the last day of Navaratri, devotees wake up early, bathe and dress in new clothes for puja. On this day, the devotees wake up early in the morning and take a bath. People must wear new clothes during bidding. The idol of Goddess Durga is offered laal chunri, flowers, milk, among other things, and fresh coconut is given as prasad to the devotees. Another type of prasad that is distributed among the Kanyas includes halwa, puri, and chana. This continues in Ram Navami. The idol of the goddess is submerged the next day, which will be October 26 this year.
