New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair an all-party meeting on Friday to discuss the COVID-19 situation. The second meeting of all parties, which comes amid a sudden increase in COVID-19 cases, will take place at practically 10:30 a.m. The meeting takes on significance as it takes place after the Prime Minister’s visit to Zydus Cadila, Bharat Biotech, and the Serum Institute of India (SII) to personally review the coronavirus vaccine development work there. Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases reported in India in a 24-hour span fell below 40,000 for the seventh time this month, bringing the infection count to 94.31 lakh, while recoveries rose to 88,47,600. Total coronavirus cases amounted to 94,31,691 with 38,772 new infections, while the death toll rose to 1.37,139 after 443 more deaths were reported.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 88,47,600, bringing the national recovery rate to 93.81%. The COVID-19 fatality rate dropped further to 1.45 percent. There are 4,46,952 active cases in the country, which represent 4.74% of all cases.

India’s COVID-19 account had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, and 40 lakh on September 5. It went from 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, and exceeded 90 lakh on November 20.
