Natarajan, after a great success IPL, joined the Indian contingent as a net pitcher, but has subsequently risen through the ranks to make his ODI and T20 International debuts.
When asked if Natarajan can translate his success in the T20 into the test arena, the captain of his IPL franchise gave an interesting answer.
“Good question, but I’m not really sure. You guys will know his Ranji Trophy (Natarajan) stats and how he performs day after day.
“I know you have lines and lengths to do that, but obviously, consecutively in a test match? I’m not 100 percent sure,” Warner said during a virtual press conference Saturday.
However, Warner added that like Mohammed Siraj, who has showcased his wares in red ball cricket at the first-class level, Natarajan could do the same.
“I know quite a bit about Siraj and how well he has done in the Ranji Trophy, endorsing the number of overs repeatedly. Given how his debut (Siraj’s debut) was, I’m hopeful Nattu can do the same if he’s included on that test squad, “Warner said.
It was a compliment to the 29-year-old, who missed the birth of his first child while busy with the IPL and national team commitments.
“I think it’s a great reward for Nattu. I think since he came here after missing the birth of his son to be a net thrower and then be injected into the real team, it’s a great achievement for him and congratulations to him. .
“He’s a very, very good bowler and I got to see him and be the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. I wish him all the best and if he gets that chance we know he will feel comfortable and know what to do.” . ”
