The ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, on Monday hit out at Governor of B S Koshyari for being in favor of the realization of final year exams at the university in the state, and said that the health of the students is not put at risk in the middle of the COVID-19 of the crisis.

An editorial in the Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said that when the RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has already objected to the holding of examinations in Gujarat and Goa in the present scenario, why is it Koshyari of the demand in contrast.

“It’s because the RSS-backed BJP is not in power in Maharashtra?” the Marathi newspaper asked.
Koshyari, who is the chancellor of universities in Maharashtra, last week asked the Chief Minister for Uddhav Thackeray to resolve the issue of conduct of final year exams at the university in the state “, without more delay, in the greater interest of the students.”

In a letter to the CM, Koshyari said that “do not carry out the last year of examination for the universities amounted to the violation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines.”

The governor also took a strong objection to a letter written by the general staff and the Minister of Technical Education Uday Samant to UGC, to recommend the cancellation of last year exams. Koshyari asked Thackeray for the issuance of appropriate instructions to Samant for his “unwarranted intervention”.

The defense of Samant, the Sena, said the minister expressed his opinion about the tests, but Koshyaris stand is to go ahead and perform the tests.

“The RSS-backed students’ wing ABVP as opposed to the holding of examinations in the current period in the state of Gujarat, and Goa. Then, why Koshyaris the demand is in stark contract with ABVP. It is because the RSS-backed BJP is not in power in Maharashtra?” the Uddhav Thackeray-led party was asked.
These tests are important for the future of 10 lakh students in the state, but may not be considered, to put their health in danger, ” he said.

“When almost all institutions are stretched to the limits, how can the governor expect universities to overcome the challenges (of COVID-19) and keep the tests?”, he asked.

The governors of the concerns are genuine, but when students have gone home, even from abroad, how can you expect that the examinations which will be held here for the students of the local universities, the Marathi publication, he said.

The main cities of the state like Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, where the headquarters of major universities, are still under the grip of COVID-19, he noted.

“There is no point in boosting the demand for the examinations at a time”, he added.
The Sena had also criticised Koshyari when he does not act in the Maharashtra Cabinet on the recommendation in April of nominating Uddhav Thackeray as a member of the state Legislative Council, the governor of the quota.

Thackeray, finally, he was elected without opposition to the Top of the House earlier this month.
