Mumbai, May 11: Goswami lawyer Harish Salve, at least one of the two senior Mumbai police officials who were part of the team that questioned Republic TV founder and editor Arnab Goswami, reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
Salve made this claim during a hearing held in the Supreme Court.
Goswami was interrogated by police for more than 12 hours on April 28 by an FIR filed against him for his comments on the Palghar mob lynching case and his comments on President of Congress Sonia Gandhi.

Goswami’s interrogation took place at the NM Joshi Marg police station in central Mumbai, where the case against him has been brought by a member of the local Congress.
After leaving the police station, Goswami said he was interrogated for more than 12 hours for his comments against the President of Congress, whose party is a component of the government led by Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
The television reporter said he told police his side of the story and that they were “completely satisfied.” Goswami received a police notice asking him to appear for questioning.
The Maharashtra government had moved the Supreme Court, alleging that Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, facing an investigation into criminal cases for his alleged comments on news programs about the lynching of Palghar, has been “intimidating” the police. that it needs to be isolated from its “pressure” and “threat”.
On April 24, the superior court granted Goswami protection against any coercive measures for three weeks in connection with some FIRs filed against him in various states for alleged defamatory statement about the lynching of the Palghar mafia of three people, including two saints in Maharashtra.
The bank had transferred a case filed against Goswami from Nagpur to Mumbai and suspended the investigation in other similar criminal cases. He had asked the Mumbai police to investigate the Goswami FIR against some young congressional workers together.

The new allegation presented by a Deputy Mumbai Police Commissioner has sought a direction for Goswami “to isolate the investigative agency from any pressure, threat and coercion” and to allow the investigative agency to comply with its legal obligations in a “fair” manner. and transparent. ” “
The statement, released through Maharashtra’s lawyer Sachin Patil, also sought direction to avoid “abusing provisional protection.”
Police have narrated the FIR sequence and the investigation carried out so far and referred to a news program on the Hindi channel of the media house and said: “The statement about their debate on their Republic Bharat channel is aimed at intimidate, terrorize and intimidate the investigating officer. “
The petition referred to certain tweets and the content of the news program and said: “The petitioner had aired narrating his story and also brought his retinue of reporters, cameraman, etc. inside the police station, where he practically ordered the police to do certain things and act in a certain way …. “
Previously, the high-ranking journalist had moved to the superior court seeking to vacate the FIR / complaints filed against him by congressional leaders in different states across the country.
In his allegation, Goswami also sought instructions so that no complaint or any new FIR registered by the police would become aware of any complaint. He also sought security for family and colleagues on his channels.
Goswami has invited strong criticism from congressional leaders for his comments directed at Gandhi during a television discussion of the Palghar incident in which three people were lynched, including two sadhus.
