Actor Malvi Malhotra was allegedly stabbed by an acquaintance for rejecting his proposal, police said.

Actor Malvi Malhotra was attacked with a knife last night allegedly by an acquaintance for rejecting his marriage proposal. The actress suffered stab wounds in the attack Monday night and has been admitted to hospital, where she is recovering, police said.
The man, who reportedly arrived in a luxury car and stabbed her, fled after the attack. He has been identified as Yogeshkumar Mahipal Singh.
“The crime took place under the jurisdiction of the Versova Police (North Mumbai). A case of attempted murder and stalking has been filed against him. We have started a search to arrest the accused,” said the police spokesman from Mumbai, S Chaitanya.
According to the details of the first information report, the incident took place one day after Ms Malhotra returned from Dubai. On Monday around 9pm, the suspect allegedly attacked her with a knife as she was driving home from a cafe in the Versova area of North Mumbai.
According to the actor’s statement given to the police, she and Singh had known each other for a year and were friends. However, Singh wanted to marry Ms Malhotra, but the actor turned him down and stopped talking to him, the actor told police.
On Monday, Singh arrived in an Audi car, detained Ms Malhotra and reportedly asked her why she had stopped talking to him. When the actor rejected her advances, he stabbed her and sped away, police said, citing the actor.
