A Mumbai court has asked police to file an FIR against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for allegedly trying to create community tension with their provocative tweets.

The order was approved by the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Jaydeo and Ghule approved the order on Friday, based on a complaint filed by casting director Sahil Ashrafali Sayyed.

Sahil had filed the lawsuit requesting the court’s direction for the registration of an FIR under sections 153A (promotion of enmity), 295A (malicious acts intended to outrage religious sentiments), 124A (sedition) of the IPC against the actor and his sister, his lawyer Ravish Zamindar. He said.

The author has alleged that Kangana Ranaut has defamed Bollywood for the past two months by calling it a “center of nepotism”, “favoritism”, etc., through her tweets and television interviews.

In the complaint, he said that Kangana Ranaut has also tweeted “very objectionable” comments, which has not only hurt his religious feelings, but also the feelings of many other artists. Sahil Sayyed has further alleged that Kangana Ranaut has been trying to divide artists in Bollywood along communal lines.

“Her sister has also made objectionable comments on social media to spread community tension between two religious groups,” the complainant said.

After examining the registered documents and the lawyer’s presentation, the court determined that the defendant Kangana Ranaut had committed a “recognizable crime”.

The court then ordered the police to initiate the necessary actions and investigations against the actor and his sister in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

“The total allegations are based on comments made in the electronic media, Twitter and interviews, and a thorough investigation by an expert is necessary,” the court said.
