The Mumbai Sessions Court reserved its order on the bail application filed by Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty, who is currently in judicial custody at a city jail, until Friday.
A Mumbai magistrate had placed Rhea into judicial custody for 14 days until September 22 late on September 8 in connection with a case brought by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) related to his investigation into the angle of the drugs surrounding the death of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. .
After spending the night in the NCB jail, 28-year-old Rhea was taken to Byculla jail even when her attorney Satish Maneshinde filed a bond statement on her behalf in Sessions Court on Wednesday.
Although the NCB did not request her preventive detention, the metropolitan magistrate rejected her request for bail and sent her to judicial custody for 14 days.
Thursday’s decision came after the special judge heard the bail statement in the presence of Maneshinde, special prosecutor Atul Sarpande and NCB investigating officer Kiran Babu.
Rhea and her brother had approached the special court under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) to request bail, as the trial court rejected their allegations on Wednesday.
