Maharashtra’s total number of cases has been reduced by 10,218 cases due to the elimination of duplicate entries and the assignment of out-of-state cases to their respective regions. The state’s total count stood at 18,80,893 on Wednesday after 4,304 new cases were reported, a 1,000 increase from the previous day.
Active case totals also decreased after the reconciliation exercise. From 71,356 active cases, the state’s active case count fell to 61,454. The last time the state had fewer than 70,000 active cases was before June. Mumbai active cases also fell from 14,096 to 6,958 due to the data cleanup. Pune now has more than double (17,000) this number, while Thane has more than 11,000. State Watch Officer Dr. Pradeep Awate said the data reconciliation was done through Nov. 12. “The difference in the number of active cases and the recovery within the state in some districts and in the corporate boundaries is due to the change in the residential address of the positive cases. and people recovered, ”he said.
Deaths in the state rose to 95 on Wednesday, up from 70 and 60 on Tuesday and Monday, respectively. Of the 95, 57 occurred in the last 48 hours and 17 in the previous week. The remaining 21 were from a period prior to last week, authorities said. However, reconciliation raised fatality rates. It rose to 2.58% and 3.86% for Maharashtra and Mumbai respectively from 2.56% and 3.76% on Tuesday.
Within MMR, the City of Thane saw 106 new positive cases on Wednesday, bringing the overall count in the district to 53,723. Three deaths brought the deaths to 1,217. The recovery rate in Thane was 96% with 51,559 patients recovering and 947 still in treatment. Up to 5,587 tests were carried out on Tuesday; To date, a total of 7,48,547 tests have been carried out.
There were 100 positive cases within the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation areas on Wednesday, bringing the total Covid count to 49,867. Of these, 95% have recovered successfully. Three deaths were also reported, bringing the death toll to 1,022. PCMC areas reported 35 new cases Wednesday, bringing the count to 26,929. With no death reports today, the death toll stood at 587.
