Amid New Coronavirus Strain Scare, 5 People On UK Flight Test Positive In Delhi

Days after the UK announced the discovery of a new, even more contagious strain of coronavirus, five passengers and crew members from a UK flight that landed in Delhi tested positive for COVID-19.

The establishment was reportedly open beyond the allowed time limit.

Violators have been protected by articles 269, 34 of the IPC and 188 (disobedience to the order duly promulgated by a public servant).

Police said they were released on the 41 (a) (1) CrPC notice. People from outside Mumbai have returned to Delhi on a 7am flight.

The development comes at a time when the state government announced a nightly curfew from December 22 to January 5, in the areas of municipal corporations as a precaution in light of Britain’s mutant strain of the coronavirus.

However, essential services such as the supply of vegetables and milk will not be affected during the night curfew, but more than five people cannot gather in one place during the seven hour period.

Meanwhile, five of the 266 passengers and crew members on a flight arriving at Delhi Airport from London last night have tested positive for COVID-19.
