Mumbai Airport’s New Covid-19 Protocols for International Passengers | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has announced a new set of guidelines for all incoming / outgoing international passengers in the context of the new strain of the Covid-19 virus detected in the UK, an official here said Tuesday.
As announced on Monday, all flights to and from the UK will be suspended from December 22-31 at midnight.
However, on Monday, the CSMIA handled four flights, three from London and one from Amsterdam with more than 690 passengers, and all the passengers have been quarantined.
However, there are no flights from London scheduled for Tuesday, although five inbound and eight outbound flights to Dubai, plus one to Doha.
CSMIA has implemented a mandatory institutional quarantine for all passengers arriving from the Gulf region and European countries, regardless of their future travel plans.
Those found symptomatic upon arrival will be sent to designated Covid-19 facilities for further evaluation.
The government will make arrangements to transport them to nearby hotels of their choice or institutional quarantine for 7 days at their expense.
Instead of undergoing a Covid-19 test at the airport, passengers will be subjected to RT-PCR tests on days 5 and 7 of the institutional quarantine at their own cost.
Passengers whose reports are positive will continue to be quarantined at the same location or in a designated facility for 14 days, while those who show a negative test report will be discharged, but must observe another 7 days of home quarantine.
In preparing for the 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. nighttime curfew from December 22 to January 5, 2021, passengers traveling to and from the airport during specified hours will be able to travel by taxis or public transportation.
CSMIA has also implemented other precautions necessary for the safety of passengers and airport personnel.
This includes the provision of personal protective equipment to all personnel working at the airport, to other stakeholders such as immigration, as well as following strict security measures after the pandemic and the latest protocols.
