A “serious incident” was declared on Sunday as police investigated multiple stabbings overnight in the England city of Birmingham, resulting in a series of injuries.
West Midlands Police said they are unsure of the motive for the stabbings and are working to establish the details after they were called to reports of a stabbing just after midnight in the city center.

Officers have established a cordon at the junction of Hurst Street, a popular downtown nightlife area known as Gay Village, and Bromsgrove Street. Emergency services attended and some of the injured were rushed to local hospitals.
There remains a heavy police presence in the area as officers urged people to remain calm and stay clear of the area while the cordons remain in place.
Many people had been sitting at outdoor tables eating and drinking on Saturday night just before the incident. Streets in the area were already closed to traffic due to coronavirus restrictions.
Witnesses reported disturbing scenes of injuries caused by the attack.
A club promoter at the Arcadian Center in the area said she was having drinks with her colleagues after finishing her shift when a series of fights began to break out, including a “group-to-group” fight that did not appear to have been provoked. for something “small”.
He told reporters that racial slurs were shouted and there were chaotic scenes as the club’s gorillas tried to break up the fight. PTI
