Both the Qalandars and Sultans have yet to play a final in the championship’s history.
Of the four teams that participated in the 2020 Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoffs, Peshawar Zalmi was eliminated after their loss to the Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 1.
Meanwhile, the Qalandars, riding Mohammad Hafeez’s 74 of 46 balls, made their way to Eliminator 2 on Sunday, where they will face the Multan Sultans, captained by Shan Masood.
The match will take place at the National Stadium in Karachi and is a golden opportunity for the Qalandars to reach their first final after finishing like the cellar dwellers in previous editions.
As for the Sultans, they lost the Qualifier to the Karachi Kings after the match went straight to the Super Over. They have a strong drive and would be desperate to make amends.
Field and conditions
The pitch in Karachi has been pretty good for the batting team. Pacemakers have also generated rebound from the surface. But the dew factor has played a role as well, making things difficult for the fielding team.
So hitting second should be the way to go for teams. The night temperature will be around 25 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be mostly in the mid 30’s.

Probable best results for MUL vs LAH
Shan Masood– Multan Sultans
Shan Masood was arguably the Sultans’ top hitter in the league stage. He had 256 runs at an average and strike rate of 28.44 and 128.64 respectively. But he was unable to perform in Qualifier, handling just three two-ball runs.
He was unlucky to a degree as he ran out of the non-forward end. The southpaw will seek to achieve a winning shot.
Tamim Iqbal – Lahore Qalandars
Tamim Iqbal is a fearsome cricket ball striker. The fact that it has almost 5,800 runs in the shortest format is a testament to its class and potential. Even in Eliminator 1, the Bangladesh Hardcore got off to a good start, scoring 18 runs with two fours and one six.
Saqib Mahmood posted his wicket with a gorilla. But it’s hard to keep a hitter of Tamim’s caliber quiet and he will look to deliver.
