MS Dhoni’s daughter Ziva receives rape threats over her father’s failure in CSK vs KKR

New Delhi: In a disturbing incident, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s five-year-old daughter received rape threats from social media trolls following the loss of Chennai Super Kings to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) On tuesday night.

CSK failed to chase a 168-run goal, losing the game to KKR by 10 runs. Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi, received the threats on her Instagram account. The threats created outrage on social media, especially from women.

Actor-turned-politician Nagma tweeted: “Where are we heading as a nation? It’s disgusting, Dhoni’s 5-year-old daughter Ziva is receiving rape threats after the loss of CSK. IPL Match KKR. Mr. #PM, what is happening in our country? ”

Sowmya Reddy, MLA from Jayanagara, Karnataka, wrote in his timeline: “This is just disgusting! What’s happening in our country? Where are we headed?”

Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted: “This has to be the most disgusting example of how social media platforms are being misused.”

Fans have often taken their anger out on players. In previous days, they even threw stones at players’ homes, burned posters and yelled abuse.

However, attacking a player’s daughter in such a manner hadn’t been heard before.
