DAMOH: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh by an unidentified person, who also injured his eyes, a police official said Thursday.
The incident took place in a village in Jabera Tehsil on Wednesday night when the minor was playing outside her home with other children, police said.
“At that time, an unidentified person took the girl to an isolated location and raped her there,” district police superintendent Hemant Chauhan told PTI by phone.
The victim was found this morning in an abandoned room located near her home, about 55 kilometers from the district headquarters, she said.
“We discovered that his eyes were damaged by the accused, who also caused injuries to his face. We took the victim to a hospital in Jabera tehsil in critical condition. From there they took her to a hospital in Jabalpur, where doctors are operating in his eyes, “Chauhan said.
When asked if her eyes were completely damaged in the incident, Chauhan said that, according to a local doctor, the minor’s eyes were so swollen that she was unable to control her retinas.
Police launched a hunt to catch the accused, suspected of being a local resident, he said.
