MP Navaneet Kaur Rana asks why NCB only investigates Deepika Padukone and not “other heroes” | Hindi Movie News

Navaneet Kaur Rana, MP, Lok Sabha has reacted to reports that actress Deepika Padukone’s name came up in an ongoing drug investigation by the Office of Narcotics Control.

Admitting she was “shocked” by the new allegations, she asked: “What charges are we talking about? Some chats that happened 3 years ago in 2017? If we take this drug investigation so seriously, why aren’t we considering the video that came out a year ago? ”

Referring to Karan Johar’s viral video from 2019, Rana said in an interview with Times Now: “The images posted had this Bollywood actress with other big names, Bollywood bigwigs and all the great families. Shahid Kapoor was there, Arjun Kapoor was there, Malaika Arora was there, other heroes were there too, why wasn’t an investigation done at that time?

“If Deepika took drugs, then the NCB should probe her equally,” he added, adding that when big names are drawn into drug-related cases, investigations are often thrown away within months.

Rana also suggested that a thorough investigation should be conducted on the drug trail and the source of the threat found. “Why does only Bollywood stand out? The investigation should not be limited only to Bollywood, all other film industries and those who use drugs must face the law, “he concluded.

In a significant development in the drug case that emerged from the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, the agency is poised to summon Bollywood celebrities including Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika, among others, for further questioning.
