A 25-year-old Dalit man in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh died after two of his acquaintances beat him during one night in a forest, and his family alleged that the assault was caused by him “touching his food”.

According to the family’s statement, the police registered an FIR under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code as well as the SC / ST (Atrocity Prevention) Act.

According to the Chhatarpur police, Devraj Anuragi was invited to the party on the night of December 7. Anuragi’s brother, Ramnaresh, said that he had reluctantly accompanied Santosh Pal to the forest near the village of Kishanpur. The second acquaintance was identified as Bhura Soni.

Chhatarpur Police Superintendent Sachin Sharma said: “The three were friends who knew each other and were drunk during their outing, during which a fight broke out over food and the two attacked Anuragi.”

Anuragi returned home bleeding and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died a few minutes later. Before losing consciousness, he told his family that Soni and Pal beat him.

According to the police report, Anuragi’s body had injuries to the back caused by a blunt stick. In their statement to the police, the victim’s family stated: “Two people Bhura Soni and Santosh Pal from the same Kishanpur village invited him to a party in a nearby field. After he returned home about 2 hours later, Anuragi narrated that the two men beat him, allegedly because he touched his food. “

“What exactly happened will only come to light after the two people are traced. They are currently on the run, ”Sharma said.

The police have formed a special team to catch them. “We are closing in on the defendants and will soon catch them. We are currently ensuring all aid to the victim’s family, ”said the SP.
