New Delhi: Ayodhya: The first images of a futuristic mosque to be built in Ayodhya of Uttar Pradesh were published by the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF). The mega project will also feature a hospital, library, and community kitchen with cutting-edge designs.
The mosque will be built on a five-acre site in the town of Dhannipur assigned by the Supreme Court in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case. The Waqf Sunni Board in Uttar Pradesh had formed the IICF trust to build the mosque and other public services on the plot.
According to the plan, a mosque without a dome, a 200-bed hospital, a community kitchen and a modern library will be installed in the complex.
One of the presenters of the project, Professor SM Akhtar from Jamia Millia Islamia, said: “The design of the mosque has been prepared with modern technology and will be egg-shaped without a dome. The two-story mosque will not have just any minaret.”
“Solar power will be installed in the mosque and around 2,000 people will be able to offer ‘namaaz’ at the same time,” he added.
In an official statement, the IICF stated that the hospital will have state-of-the-art facilities, much needed in the surrounding population, with a focus on the needs of children suffering from malnutrition and pregnant women.
The structure of the building will also house the trust office and publication house focusing on research and a publishing house for Indo-Islamic cultural literature studies.
The construction of the mosque was initially scheduled to start from January 26, but due to some technical delays, the project will start from August 15 next year.
Furthermore, the mosque will not be named after any king or ruler, instead the IICF has suggested that the mosque be named Dhannipur Masjid, but a final decision has not been made yet.
