The rescue operation of more than 500 tourists, who were stranded on the road between the South Portal of the Atal Tunnel and Solang Nalla in Manali in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh after heavy rains is underway.
Raman Gharsangi, Manali Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM), said in a statement that efforts are being made to restore vehicular traffic and rescue stranded people.
“The rescue teams arrived in Dhundi around 8 pm. More than twenty 4X4 rescue vehicles with rescue teams dispatched with orders to provide facilities for the stranded people. Taxis and a 48-seater bus also moved to Kulang to that evacuated people could be moved. Rescue is still underway, “Gharsangi said.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department issued a “yellow” weather warning on Tuesday for heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh.
The department issued a “yellow” weather advisory for heavy snowfall in the middle and upper hills on January 5 and thunderstorms and lightning strikes in the plains and low hills on January 3-5.
