New Delhi:
The Covid-19 situation in Delhi is under control, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said today, attributing the increase in the number of cases to the increase in the number of tests. The prime minister’s assurance came as the national capital has witnessed a surge in virus cases in recent days.
“The number of Covid cases is increasing because more and more tests are being done every day. The more we do the tests, the more we find out about the cases. In a way, we have launched a counterattack against the coronavirus,” he said. The AAP government has doubled the tests in the city, he added.
Kejriwal also said that the death rate (CFR) in Delhi is around 0.5 percent, which is much lower than the national average. He said his government has taken various measures to reduce Covid-related deaths in the national capital.
Delhi declares war on Corona.
We have doubled the tests, we started testing in markets, bus stops, Mohalla clinics, etc. Test, test, test. Isolate infected people and treat them well.

“Yesterday 13 people died. Although it is a small number, it should not happen. Not a single person should die. In June the deaths were more than 100. Today is 13. Since August, if you compare the national average mortality rate of 1 , 7%, Delhi’s figure is better at 1%. Therefore, only 1 in 100 people die, “he said while addressing an online press conference.
The minister said that 70 percent of Covid patient beds in Delhi hospitals are still empty and only 30 percent are occupied.
“Out of 5,000 beds, 1,600-1,700 beds are occupied by people from other states,” he said.
After a brief drop, Delhi has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in recent days. The national capital reported 2,914 new infections on Friday, its highest peak in one day in 69 days.
This is the fourth consecutive day in September that more than 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in one day. In addition, more than 36,000 tests were conducted on Friday.
This morning, India posted its biggest single-day increase of 86,432 cases, pushing the country’s Covid count past the 40 lakh mark. The total number of cases now stands at 40,23,179, some 70,000 cases behind Brazil, the second most affected country in the world after the United States.
India is now the third country after the United States and Brazil to record 40 lakh cases. The country’s number of cases has gone from 30 lakh to 40 lakh in just 13 days, faster than the United States and Brazil.
