Ahmedabad: After the appearance and disappearance of various monoliths in different parts of the world, the presence of the first metal sculpture of this type has been reported in India. The structure has been seen at Symphony Forest Park in Thaltej, Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad monolith looks like the others, with shiny metal sheets forming a three-sided structure. This monolith has some numbers embedded in it, representing an affinity with nature and the protection of wildlife.

Dhilipbhai Patel, deputy director of parks and gardens at Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, said The Indian Express that they were aware of the monolith’s presence at Symphony Forest Park and that it had been placed there by the people who had developed and maintained the park.

The anonymous artist behind the installation said that these mysterious works of art evoke conversations about life and the beauty of things.

The park that was completed three months ago is located near the Sindhu Bhawan Highway. The park was inaugurated by the chief minister, Vijay Rupani, practically earlier this month.

The first monolith was seen in a remote part of Utah in the US in November. After that, the metal sculpture was seen in Romania, California, Belgium. Spain, Germany and Colombia among other places.

At Christmas, a gingerbread monolith appeared in San Francisco and collapsed the next day.

People began to compare the monoliths to Kubrick’s iconic film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The film was based on a science fiction novel by Arthur C. Clarke and features towering black monoliths created by an invisible alien species.
