Mohammed Siraj, who is in Sydney with the Indian team for the upcoming series against Australia, suffered a personal loss when his father died on Friday. The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) issued a press release on Saturday, saying the fast pitcher was offered the option to fly home, but decided to stay with the team in Australia. “Team India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj lost his father on Friday after a short illness. The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) had a discussion with Siraj and offered him the option to fly back. and be with his family in this hour of pain, “the BCCI said in a press release.
“The fast pitcher has decided to stay with the Indian contingent and continue to carry out his national duties. BCCI shares his pain and will support Siraj in this extremely challenging phase.”
On Saturday, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to post a message of condolence for the Hyderabad pacemaker.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina also took to Twitter to offer his condolences to Mohammed Siraj and his family.

Siraj was not named to the limited squads for the upcoming Australian tour, but the 26-year-old managed to find a spot on the 18-man squad for the four-game test series.
The nearly two-month tour will begin with the ODI series, starting on November 27. The first test of the four-game series will begin on December 17.
