Union Interior Minister Amit Shah praised the announcement of the bonus for central government employees on Wednesday, saying it will bring joy to their lives ahead of the holiday season.
“The Modi government is synonymous with prosperity. I congratulate Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for brightening the lives of some 30.67 lakhs of central government employees ahead of this holiday season by approving the immediate payment of bonuses to their accounts at today’s cabinet meeting, ”Shah said on Twitter .
He also highlighted the other decision made by the Union Cabinet regarding the acquisition of apples from Jammu and Kashmir.
“Fostering its commitment to help and empower the people of J&K, the union cabinet led by PM @narendramodi has approved the extension of the Market Intervention Scheme for the acquisition of apples. This will improve the income of apple growers by providing an effective marketing platform, ”the interior minister said in another tweet.
The cabinet approved the productivity and non-productivity bonus for central government employees on Wednesday. Briefing the media about the cabinet’s decisions, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that it will be delivered immediately, in a single installment, before Vijaya Dashami.
Javadekar also said that the beneficiaries include 17 lakh unpublished employees in business establishments such as railways, post offices, EPFO, ESIC who will get their bonus linked to productivity and another 13 lakh employees from the government who will get their bonus not linked to productivity.
This comes days after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a cash voucher program for the Leave Treavel Concession (LTC). The measure was intended to boost consumer spending during the festival season.
