Mithun Chakraborty: ‘I’m a cobra, I can kill in one bite’: Mithun Chakraborty after joining BJP | West Bengal Election News

NEW DELHI: To end weeks of speculation, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty joined the BJP at a rally in Kolkata on Sunday.
Chakraborty, a former member of TMC Rajya Sabha, was greeted by the BJP’s national secretary general, Kailash Vijayvargiya, and the state president, Dilip Ghosh, among others.
Addressing a sea of supporters at the Brigade Parade Ground after joining the saffron party, the National Award-winning actor said the BJP has given him a platform to fulfill his aspiration.
The actor-politician also borrowed a dialogue from one of his films, saying that it is “a cobra that can kill people in one bite.”
“Ami joldhorao noi, bele borao noi … ami ekta cobra, ek chobol-ei chobi (Don’t mistake me for a harmless snake, I am a cobra, I can kill people in one bite)”, he said amid enthusiastic cheers of the followers.
He also claimed that he was proud to be Bengali.
“I always wanted to do something great in life, but I had never dreamed of being part of such a large demonstration that will be led by the most popular leader in the world, Narendra Modi. I wanted to work for the poorest sectors of our society, and that desire now it will be fulfilled, “he said.
Mithun’s mega entry into the BJP came moments before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally on the iconic Calcutta grounds.
Raising the tone of the poll in West Bengal, the prime minister said Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee broke the trust of the people of the state and insulted them.
“The people of Bengal never gave up hope despite the betrayal of Didi and his painting,” Modi said.
He stated that the dream of “Sonar Bangla” will be fulfilled once the BJP comes to power.
