The contract for the hand grenades, which were designed by DRDO’s Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratories (TBRL), was signed with M / s Economic Explosive Ltd (EEL) or the Nagpur Solar Group. The contract will run in two years.
This is the first contract of this type signed with a national private company. In the past, these ammunition products were imported or manufactured by the state-owned Artillery Factory Board (OFB), which has 41 factories.
Hand pomegranate The project has been hanging on fire since 2011 because the same grenades made by OFB repeatedly failed the DGQA (Directorate-General for Quality Assurance) tests. It was finally approved by the Defense Procurement Council in March 2019, and the contract was signed on Thursday.
