Karnataka ministers, including R Ashoka and JC Madhuswamy, thanked opposition leader Siddaramaiah on Monday for helping the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) form the government in the state.
Participating in a debate in the legislative assembly on the state’s flood situation, Karnataka Revenue Minister Ashoka spontaneously responded to Siddaramaiah that the BJP came to power in the state not because of ‘Operation Lotus’ but to the ‘timely help’ of Siddaramaiah.
‘Operation Lotus’ is the name given by the Opposition to the BJP game plan to attract the MLAs, and all MLA who resigned were promised ministerial places and also tickets to compete in the same seats they occupied before submitting their resignations .
Ashok was responding to Siddaramaiah’s statement that he knew all about the former’s role in “Operation Lotus.”
The Congress leader said then that he has always opposed the ideology preached by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and practiced by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). He stated that he never in his life thought of helping the RSS or the BJP, remotely or ideologically.
Madhuswamy, Karnataka’s Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs, who joined the debate at this juncture, said that those who are sitting on the treasury benches “know very well that you (Siddaramaiah) will never ideologically help the BJP, but personally , you (Siddaramaiah)) go to any level to help your friends, regardless of your party affiliation. “
Siddaramaiah asked Madhuswamy to present “evidence” to suggest, even remotely, that he helped the BJP come to power.
