The daughter of legendary sprinter Milkha Singh and ace golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, the older sister, has been running a “marathon” in New York, not on a track but in a hospital.
Mona Milkha Singh is a doctor at the Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York, serving emergency patients for Covid-19, which has so far claimed more than 40,000 lives in the United States. New York has reported nearly 250,000 confirmed cases and more than 18,000 deaths.
“She is basically an emergency room doctor at the hospital. So when someone has the coronavirus symptoms, they have to treat them, “said Jeev.
Mona, 54, dropped out of Patiala Medical College before moving to the United States. She has been working there for over 20 years.
“I am very proud of her. She says it is like running a marathon every day. She has been working five days a week, sometimes day shifts, sometimes night shifts, 12 hour shifts,” said Jeev.
“I feel worried. When you treat people, anything can happen, so we talk to her every day. My mom and dad also keep an eye on her,” added the 48-year-old woman. – PTI
