According to him, Slack’s main argument about his Teams competition is that Microsoft is not as focused on users and their interactions with the application. “I think there is this perpetual question, which at the moment is a little puzzling to us, that at some point Microsoft is going to kill us,” he added.

He previously said that Microsoft Teams has a 30% lower adoption rate among users. “Microsoft has 258 million paid seats for Office 365, which includes access to Microsoft Teams, which means less than 30 percent of Microsoft Office business customers are using Teams,” said the Slack CEO.

Slack recently launched a new app to integrate video calling features from rival Microsoft teams into its chat app. Along with Microsoft Teams integration, Slack is also launching VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) telephone integration with Zoom, Cisco Jabber, RingCentral and Dialpad productivity services.

Slack has seen nearly 350 percent growth in calls made or received on its chat app in the past month, as businesses and SMBs embrace remote work during the new coronavirus pandemic.

However, Microsoft said it posted a new daily record of 2.7 billion meeting minutes in a single day on March 31 – a 200 percent increase from 900 million on March 16. The number of Teams weekly mobile users has grown more than 300 percent since early February March.
